In the Studios of Paris: William Bouguereau & His American Students

Organized by The Philbrook Museum of Art, this nationally-touring exhibition brings together approximately 60 paintings, drawings and prints by Bouguereau and his leading American students, including Cecilia Beaux, E. Irving Couse, Elizabeth Gardner, Robert Henri, and Lawton Parker. Each student is compared and contrasted to Bouguereau through student works and mature works. While some artists directly absorbed Bouguereau's style, others formulated unique styles that were nevertheless informed by Bouguereau's methods, techniques, or subjects.
