Sponsoring Education
Philbrook has a long history of providing quality, innovative educational programs to audiences of all ages throughout our community. Sponsoring an education program is a meaningful way to support the museum and our community.

Family Offerings:
Eye Spy the Museum is a Saturday afternoon drop-in program designed for young children between the ages of 3 and 6 and accompanying adults to participate in meaningful museum and art making experiences. During the program, adults develop skills to help their young children gain visual literacy.
Heyman Family Adventures in Art Series offers a Saturday afternoon drop-in program for childen between the ages of 6 and 12 (and as young as 3, with an accompanying adult). It is designed to give participants an opportunity to learn about the museum, its collection and special exhibitions and create art inspired by their experience. Parents and/or accompanying adults are always welcome to stay and join in on the fun.
Activity Guides and Backpacks allow parents and children to actively look and discuss the artworks with guided questions, games and information formulated especially for the exhibition.
Free Days are offered on the second Saturday of every month.
Programs for Elementary and Secondary Students:
Tours and Classes offer a diverse selection of subject matter, pulling from the museum’s collections to introduce elements of art and principles of design.
Visual Voyage is a specialized program for middle school students offering an in-depth study of a particular time period or cultural group. Students take part in a gallery tour, curriculum-based activities, and hands-on art projects while visiting the museum.
Phil-Book Story Time, designed for Pre-K and Kindergarten students, features an interactive story session in the galleries and a related art project.
ArtReach is an after-school program for third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students in Tulsa Public Schools. Upon graduation, fifth-grade students have received 36 hours of visual arts instruction and museum education. The program presently serves approximately 50 schools, 1,000 students and 100 classroom teachers annually.
Student Art League provides an opportunity for Tulsa area high school juniors and seniors to be nominated to represent their schools and/or community organizations in this leadership group, which plans, participates in, and implements visual art programs at the Gilcrease and Philbrook Museums.
Educational Opportunities for College Students:
Philbrook works cooperatively with colleges in the region offering internships. Last year interns worked in such areas as education, collection management, library and graphic design.
Resources and Programs for Educators:
Education Resource Center offers an extensive library of books, videos, posters and slide packets available to educators free of charge for a two-week loan period.
Teacher Workshops and Special Events are offered throughout the year to assist educators in maximizing their class visits to the museum and better utilizing museum exhibitions and resources.
Programming for General Adult Audiences:
Adult Art Classes & General Adult Tours include education opportunities in a variety of subject matter from studio production techniques to tours that highlight the collection, special exhibitions and the newly-renovated gardens.
Public Programs include lectures, symposia, gallery talks, tours, demonstrations, films, and concerts. Each of these programs supports the themes of the collection and special exhibitions and enhances the visitor’s understanding of the works of art.
