About the Teaching Artist: Jiji Coul

Peace, I am Jiji Coul a crafter of creation. A question “What is the source of knowing?” I gathered from Sadhgurus book “Inner Engineering”. As an artist I have taken this question internally and processed this ideology of “knowing” and if I am the source of my own knowing? So that’s when the question reappears “what is the source of knowing?” I understand what I can comprehend through the senses which has become an internal embodiment for me instead of being a tool for survival. A tool of choice and action that can be shared and received. My artist truth is internalizing what my soul knows to be the unknown and bringing my reality to existence. There are so many limitations within the human life. Physically. What is within has no limitations, my art is pulled from my internal body that holds me in full felicity. I create through the questioning of life and how I can embody those ideas and allow myself project them into the existence I am connected to. Opening the watcher to an idea of truth and knowledge.

What to Expect
A day at Camp Philbrook starts in our studios, but we quickly use the whole museum: art, gardens, etc. to explore what it means to be a creative thinker and maker. Our workshops are geared towards getting messy, working together and making space for every child’s ideas.

Here are a few things to know:

  1. This is a drop-off camp.
  2. We offer Before and After-Care.*
  3. All-Day campers need to bring a peanut-free lunch from home.
  4. We have pretzels or Goldfish crackers as morning snack and afternoon snack built into each camp session. Campers are welcome to bring their own peanut-free snack from home if they would like.
  5. We use the whole museum, which means we spend ample time outside when the weather permits. Please pack a water bottle daily and arrive wearing sunscreen and bug spray.
  6. Your days at Philbrook will be filled with creative energy and fun! Please make sure to dress for mess and outdoor exploration.

*Before or After-Care
Before-Care or After-Care is offered for each week of Camp Philbrook for an additional $25 for Members and $30 for Not-Yet-Members per child. With the addition of Before-Care to your AM camp ticket, you may drop your child off as early as 7:45am. With the addition of After-Care to your PM camp ticket, you may pick your child up as late as 5:30pm.
