Join us in the studio for Welcome to Watercolor, a hands-on painting experience designed for adults to unwind and tap into a creative flow state. This 4-week course is the perfect introduction to working with watercolors for the beginner or anyone interested in revisiting the fundamentals of this endlessly expressive and versatile medium.

Figurative Artist Sylvia Nitti will familiarize participants with the watercolor process through demonstrations, group exercises, and individual feedback in a casual and supportive atmosphere. Gallery and garden visits will allow participants to discover relevant connections within our collection and special exhibition. Time is reserved at the end of each class for shared reflection and discussion. Participants will create numerous studies and 1-2 finished paintings. No prior experience is required. All materials provided.

Learning Outcomes:

  • How to select and care for essential watercolor supplies
  • How to plan a composition & prepare the surface
  • How to mix, layer, and sequence watercolor paint
  • Where to find resources for further exploration
