This class is part of the Stay Gold Sessions, a series of art and nature-inspired workshops for older adults ages 55+.

Learn the alchemy of creating textile works of art with plant dyes and pigments. This class will give participants the knowledge and skills to create their own dye vats, mordants, bundle dyes, and more! Explorations will include a rainbow of hues sourced from indigo, turmeric root, floral dyes, avocado, black bean, and madder root. The final class will be an outdoor exhibition and picnic where students may invite friends and family to view their works on display.

About the Artist
Amber Marie Deen is an educator, folk herbalist, and multidisciplinary artist. Amber has an artistic practice that is deeply connected to following the rhythms of nature and working with natural materials. She has been working with Indigo and other natural dye processes for the past 6 years and continues to explore and educate people of all ages on how to create stunning textiles. Amber’s teaching style is very hands-on and student led, you can expect a light hearted sense of curiosity and fun in her classes.
