General Policy

Tobacco-Free Property

To protect and enhance our indoor air quality, to keep our building and grounds clean and to contribute to the health and well-being of guests, the entire property of Philbrook is entirely smoke free. Additionally, the use of all tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes and chewing tobacco, is banned from the entire property of Philbrook. This policy includes locations both inside and outside of all Philbrook buildings.

Weapon-Free Property

As a private institution and to help ensure the safety of Philbrook guests, Philbrook does not allow firearms (open or concealed) on museum property, including gardens, parking lots, and grounds, with the exception of authorized law enforcement officers.

In accordance with Oklahoma State law, any person, except a convicted felon, may transport and store firearms in a locked motor vehicle on any property set aside for motor vehicles, including a Philbrook parking lot. However, removal of any firearms or other dangerous weapons from a locked vehicle on Philbrook property is prohibited.

For the protection of employees and visitors to the Museum, Philbrook reserves the right at any time and at its discretion to search for and confiscate dangerous weapons that may be stored, carried, or concealed in Philbrook property or personal possessions brought onto Philbrook property such as but not limited to bags, packages, containers, briefcases, purses, coats, and any other personal item in which dangerous weapons may be carried or concealed.
