What happens when you mix paint, prints, patterns, nature, and a little imagination? Inspired by Roadside Abstractions and the Philbrook Gardens, campers will experiment with hands-on art processes, play with abstraction, and see what happens when familiar things get turned upside down, inside out, or into something entirely new.

Daily Camp Itinerary (11/2-11/3):
8:15 am: Camp Check-In
12-1 pm: Lunch - Bring a peanut-free lunch from home
4 pm: Camp Pick-Up

About the Teaching Artist: Toni Willis
Toni Willis is a mixed-media artist and Nature Education Coordinator at Philbrook Art Museum who has been creating and serving Oklahoma children for more than 30 years. A crafty, resourceful, and curious maker, Toni loves experimenting with materials, finding unexpected uses for everyday things, and helping others tap into the creative energy inside each of us. Her work and teaching explore the connections between art, nature, and sustainability.

What to Expect
A day at Camp Philbrook starts in our studios, but we quickly use the whole museum: art, gardens, etc. to explore what it means to be a creative thinker and maker. Our workshops are geared towards getting messy, working together and making space for every child’s ideas.

Here are a few things to know:

  1. This is a drop-off camp.
  2. All campers are required to be toilet trained and able to use the toilet without adult assistance.
  3. Campers need to bring a peanut-free lunch from home.
  4. We have pretzels or Goldfish crackers as morning snack and afternoon snack built into each camp session. Campers are welcome to bring their own peanut-free snack from home if they would like.
  5. We use the whole museum, including plenty of time outside when weather permits. Please bring a water bottle and arrive with sunscreen already applied. Campers who need to reapply should bring their own sunscreen and be able to apply it independently.
  6. Your days at Philbrook will be filled with creative energy and fun! Please make sure to dress for mess and outdoor exploration.
All sales are final. Tickets, Memberships, and Donations are nonrefundable. Select ticketed events will be exchangeable. View our full Refund & Ticketing Policy for more information.
